This course presents an overview of the relationship among the concepts of person, environment, health, and nursing. The client’s need for a physiological and psychosocial integrity and a safe, effective environment are explored. The nursing process is introduced as a problem-solving technique. The student acquires the knowledge and skills essential to meet the basic needs of individuals with health care needs. Clinical experiences are gained in the college laboratory, University of Vermont Health Network at CVPH and other sites as arranged. (75 lecture, 53 skills lab, 57 clinical hours).
